My name is Maria Michaud (Peacious), and I am an Early Childhood Educator and soon to be Licensed Home Child Care Provider in Chicago, IL. I will be licensed through the Department of Children and Family Services. I am a proud mom of an amazing three year-old boy. At a very young age I started working with children. Since I was a little girl, I had to baby-sit my younger cousins, sister and brother. Being the oldest of many family members, I took on the nurturing role quite fast so being an Early Childhood Educator is something natural to me.
As a child I was home-schooled until the age of 5 where I tested out of kindergarten and went on to first grade. Because I loved to tinker with electronics, my dream career was in the computer engineering field. However, Childcare was always in my back-up plan. It wasn’t until I gave birth to my son that I chose to become a professional childcare giver.
Since I’ve chosen to start my program, I’ve been very active in the field and I keep up with my professional development. I have been to trainings on CPR/First Aid, Safety, Meals, Finger Play Stories, Exploring Brain Development, Fire safety, Home Preschool Program, Health, Social and currently attending Harold Washington college courses to obtain my Associates degree.
